Gas – Combined Heat & Power (CHP)
Gas CHP uses natural gas fuel in a highly efficient process that not only generates electricity but also captures and utilises the heat that is a by-product of the electrical generation process. By creating heat and power simultaneously, CHP can reduce carbon emissions by up to 30%.
For many organisations CHP is the biggest single way to reduce energy costs and lower their carbon footprint through sustainable energy generation. It is shown to be successful across a range of companies and service providers including hospitals, leisure centres and residential blocks. By having the energy and heating generated on site, efficiency is increased when compared with a power plant as nothing is lost in transmission from where the energy is generated to where it is being used.
