Biomass – Combined Heat & Power (CHP)
Biomass CHP uses wood fuel to generate electricity as well as heat. When heating the wood fuel without the presence of oxygen, gases are released that are fed into an engine that runs on the released gas. The heat that is produced by the engine is then sent into the buildings heating system.
This is suitable for a small or large business with a year round high power heat demand. The biomass system is highly efficient and comes with a relatively low maintenance cost over its lifetime. Using a carbon neutral fuel to power the system, substantial reductions in CO2 emissions can be achieved. Well proven, CHP is recognised worldwide as a viable alternative to traditional centralised generation.
